Haiti - Trip #2

This was my second trip to Haiti in 2015. The first was to the Southern part where I did training for 33 pastors with Mission Starfish.  This trip was in November to Northern Haiti under the direction of Project Hope (Springfield, Missouri). Project Hope has a presence in Haiti and Nicaragua with a burden to help on many fronts, while we share a special passion for training pastors in ministry. Presently, the people of Project Hope are erecting buildings in each of these countries to house pastors when they come for training as travel can be difficult. It is so humbling to work with these national pastors.

They have so little in the way of resources yet their hearts are joyful and strongly committed to their calling from The Lord to help their fellow Haitians. When meeting with these pastors on dirt floors and homemade chairs, I’m reminded of Jesus’ statement:

“When you have done it to the least of these you have done it unto me.”

To impact a pastor, who then returns recharged and reinvigorated, who will then lead, teach and shepherd his people like The Lord Jesus Christ… Well, this kind of pastoral and personal impact is infectious, and the fruit, exponential! Here at home, I get to coach pastors and disciple men.  With the help of God and by means of the lessons He has taught me, even (and sometimes especially) through the mistakes I have made, I pour myself into these men. All the while still learning and listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit myself, I teach them to live and obey the life-changing truths of Scripture, reminding them of this all important God-given responsibility we have, to reproduce and even to replace ourselves. What a privilege is mine.

I thank my wife and all of you for your support and prayers.
