Phillippines
What an ADVENTURE! My ministry continues to develop in unexpected yet exciting ways as I spent the last two and a half weeks of November in the Philippines, teaching at The Word of Life Bible Institute.
I was put in contact with the Academic Dean of the Institute via the recommendation from my lifelong friend Terry Alexander. For that, I am so grateful as I found it a great blessing teaching and spending time with the students and staff. After landing in Manila we traveled about 2 and a half hours south to the Word of Life Campground. Pictured at left is a “Jeepney”, a common sight here on the island, designed after American Jeeps left post World War 2. They serve Philipinnos as taxis, shuttling passengers throughout the Island.
As we traveled south the way got narrower with houses actually serving as road borders. Children play in the street as it functions like a yard as well as a thoroughfare. It seemed at times that the people were not even conscious of vehicles passing by, so great caution is taken when driving as auto accidents involving children are far too common. Another form of public transportation is the motorcycle with sidecar, pictured on right. By the time we arrived at The Word of Life Camp the road had become a glorified trail. In 1999 when Word of Life purchased the land it was nothing more than a horse trail through Jungle.
The Bible Institute is actually only part of the ministry as the compound serves as a Christian Camp also. The Students attending the Bible Institute can do a one year Bible program or they can do a four-year program designed to prepare them for full-time ministry. My passion is discipling men and especially those young men who aspire to be Pastors.
I can’t tell you what a great time I had spending time with these young men helping to shape them for God’s service. I feel called to this, little did I know that I would be doing it on four different continents this year! Penny supports me going wherever there is opportunity to impact lives for Christ. These four guys hung out with me breakfast, lunch and dinner! They couldn’t get enough of the old geezer! Our conversations centered around being real and living real Christianity.
We are very THANKFUL for you all who are supporting us through prayer and finances. In 4 weeks I will be in Africa with friend Mark Albright teaching at the International Bible College of Zambia. If you would consider a year end gift, we would be so grateful. We have never been in a Faith Walk like this. There are times of anxiety and fear, but it has never been more exciting as we continue to experience God’s complete faithfulness!
Love to you, Keith and Penny
