God Gave Me a Sign!

I am very grateful as my ministry continues to expand. In addition to my local ministry focused on discipleship, I've also had the opportunity to help train hundreds of pastors both domestic and abroad. Since then, I’ve wanted to start this ministry with the name "141", but was given counsel to launch under the auspices of "The Navigators" for reasons of ministry respectability and recognition. It was good counsel for I learned some good ministry principles and practices plus I met some great people.

I was driving one day about 8 years ago, asking God what to call my ministry, when I saw the “141” highway sign. It occurred to me a little while later, I think God gave me a “sign”, literally! Well, I’m still traveling Highway 141, doing ministry “One for One”, which simply means investing myself in another man, so he will do the same for another and so on. That is discipleship! God knows how to shape us up as we need to be who God wants them to become. That is, helping men be like His Son, the best man ever.

As for the numbers 1-4-1, they serve as a good reminder and a good way to define real Christian living and ministry.  One person for another person, not just helping yourself to life, but helping another person to life and through life, even life hereafter.  Just like Jesus, who left us example after example of living His life, even giving His life, for another.  What a legacy Jesus left us, not about filling your life up, but about pouring your life out, for another. As He said, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:13).

Several years ago I learned of a ministry that serves to help other ministries facilitate their funding.  The founder of this ministry discovered many years ago that he could help missionaries keep more of their funding and more importantly keep them “on the field” by providing them this service and at a substantial savings.  Because of this non-profit ministry (World in Need International), we hope to save as much as 15% of our ministry funding.

Testimonials

Pastors and missionaries are constantly passing through spiritual battles in their lives and in their work. We need people like Keith who can understand our situations, help sort them out and then speak truth into them. There are precious few out there who have these abilities and are available to do so. For me personally, I would not have survived and had victory over things God allowed me to pass through this past year if God had not also put Keith in my life.

In the 35 plus years I have known my friend Keith, he has proven to be a man of rock solid integrity, a straight shooter with others, and humble enough to receive a challenge in return. God has used him to come alongside me personally at several key points in my ministry with the wise counsel and encouragement I needed to carry on and fulfill God’s calling. I have watched our Lord grow in him 3 great passions that mark his life and ministry to me. A passion for pastoring and pastors, a passion for discipling men to be godly men and leaders, and a passion for his wife Penny and their family. His teaching traffics in down to earth, real life truth on the personal level. I can truly say (that Keith’s visit) was a game changer for us. I count it a privilege to be his friend and fellow servant in the Kingdom.
