Getaway!
“But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.” Luke 5:16
Jesus believed in a getaway! He loved people, but He knew He needed time away. He escaped from the crowds, even His disciples at times. Real ministry is a battlefield and requires real rest and time away.
In almost 43 years of marriage, Penny and I have never really experienced a getaway when we felt so rested and refreshed like we did last month. It was nice not to have to hurry this year. We spent over three weeks visiting friends and relatives in Florida and we loved it. We hope to make it an annual trek to read, write and refresh for ministry.
I discovered some things as we were away this winter. It was good for us to be away, for the rest, but also for the men I disciple. It is my goal for every man I work with that they learn to be a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus and to help another man do the same. We discuss the fact that there will come a time to launch them and the fact that I won’t always be around, so this was a good test. A few of them tripped up, but in repentance they once more realized our God’s amazing Grace. Humbled and revitalized by His love, they are even more eager to serve and follow Him. So, even though there were struggles, our getaway was good for all of us.
141 Ministry is going very well with weekly discipleship meetings with men as well as Penny encouraging ladies in their walk with God. Recently, I added five more men into discipleship. It may be time to launch some! Please pray for me for wisdom.
Regarding the overseas ministry, I long to return to Haiti but to visit there now may be dangerous for us and/or our Haitian friends. Please pray for them. I am considering a trip to Togo, West Africa this Fall, and possibly a return visit to Niaragua.
We feel privileged to serve our Savior!
Thank you for all your love, prayer and support!!
Love from above, Keith & Penny
